Oxygen Aroma-therapy A new breed of bar may be blowing into your community – one that serves not alcohol, but oxygen. Oxygen bars which started overseas and hit Nevada and California in the late 1990’s are spreading across the county. Oxygen is being hailed as the latest cure for aging skin. Throw out those AHA’s and invest in some air. Oxygen is taking over as the latest word in beauty. Stars gasping for air include Uma Thurman, famous for her dewy skin. Vogue states, “Oxygen is a bit like choosing the wax option at the end of a car wash. And it has remarkably similar results – your skin glows.” The German scientist and pioneer of oxygen therapy, Prof. Manfred van Ardenne, found that with aging, our ability to consume sufficient oxygen decreases 5% - 10% per decade between the ages of 25 and 75. Today’s lifestyle of “convenient” fast foods depletes oxygen from our bodies. Fruits and vegetables contain high oxygen levels. However, Americans prefer to eat more over-processed and junk foods that are low in oxygen and high in toxins, like hamburger and pizza We are already breathing about 21% pure oxygen with the rest being nitrogen, carbon dioxide and argon. The oxygen bar increases this to about 95% pure oxygen – it filters out the other gases. The most efficient way to deliver the oxygen is to use a nose hose, much like the ones they use in hospitals. Deep breaths are recommended and talking during a session lowers your intake. Sessions range from 10 - 30 minutes and combine both high purity oxygen and aromatherapy. Aromas come in many varieties and a client can choose from 4 different flavors while using an aroma station. It’s ok to inhale!!
